Artist Pass: code of conduct

This Code of Conduct rests upon the assumption of a number of core values and principles which require that accredited artists behave with:


  • Integrity
  • Honesty
  • Loyalty to the interests of the Artist Access Initiative
  • Fairness
  • Conscientiousness
  • Compassion
  • Empathy
  • Diplomacy/Tact
in their fact-finding missions.


In particular, accredited artists should always:

  • Obtain willing co-operation of all active participants in an fact-finding mission;
  • Conduct the fact-finding missions honestly and without unwelcome intrusion or harm to participants;
  • Use of the Artist Pass exclusively for purposes of art-related fact-finding missions;
  • Preserve the quality of venues and context where the artist presents their findings;
  • Adequately inform all of the active participants in an fact-finding mission;
  • Refute any criminal and anti-social behaviour and act as a deterrent to vandalism of and/or theft;
  • Difusse any conflict and never engage in any type of conflictual dialogue with the participants in their fact-finding missions;
  • Provide the representatives of the accessed areas with a written request to access;
  • Do not carry out any activity unless the artist is satisfied that intended access has been agreed by the relevant authorities.

Any violation of the Code of Conduct may lead to the revocation of the Artist Pass and removal of the Artist from the online database of accredited artists.
